Over the last year, the unprecedented suffering caused by the pandemic was met with an equally relentless development of rapid solutions by innovators within civil society, whether it was incisive healthcare tools, support to displaced migrant workers, or alternate job creation for those out-of-work. D4GX India aims to bring together innovators, funders, and ecosystem builders to continue growing and developing such innovations, and rebuild Indian communities who suffer most deeply at the hand of any crisis, with an inclusive and participatory arsenal of solutions.
To further this vision, the D4GX 2021 India Empowerment Challenge will award and support three exceptional early-stage social innovations incubated by ‘data-preneurs’ within successful Indian civil society organizations, across each one of our thematic focuses:

Strategic Mentorship
• Shortlisted innovators will receive 1-1 mentorship support from the Bloomberg Engineering and Global Data teams in India • The cohort of Innovation grant winners will have the opportunity to engage with Practitioner Fellows at the Digital Civil Society Lab - Stanford PACS through 2-3 collaborative learning sessions over a 1-year period • The winners will have an opportunity to fundraise further through 1-1 dialogues with a curated group of philanthropists |
‣ The innovation should be an early-stage innovation to an existing program or new project (12-18 month pilot phase) focused on empowering vulnerable communities through data.
‣ The innovation must show potential for scale and financial investment.
‣ The core team should have strong organizational experience of scaling and sustaining social innovations in the past, especially those related to data or information technology.
‣ The project/innovation must align with one of the thematic tracks for the D4GX 2021 India Empowerment Challenge.
‣ Applicant should be a registered Nonprofit organisation in India.
‣ The project/innovation must address at least one of the following barriers that impede data-led empowerment and build user-centricity towards data through the solution:
‣ The innovation must show potential for scale and financial investment.
‣ The core team should have strong organizational experience of scaling and sustaining social innovations in the past, especially those related to data or information technology.
‣ The project/innovation must align with one of the thematic tracks for the D4GX 2021 India Empowerment Challenge.
‣ Applicant should be a registered Nonprofit organisation in India.
‣ The project/innovation must address at least one of the following barriers that impede data-led empowerment and build user-centricity towards data through the solution:
